Rodney
Pyeatt Joins Mike McClure
(Austin) –
Rodney Pyeatt, legendary Texas guitarist, critically acclaimed vocalist,
and creator of the Texas Beer Joint Tour, will make a departure from his
solo career to join the all new Mike McClure Band. As the lead singer with
The Great Divide, McClure performed for the last time with the group on
March 28, ending a highly successful 10 year run.
Although Pyeatt and McClure don’t have a history of working together,
they really connected while working on Jason Boland’s latest project at
Awesome Works Studio in Belton, Texas. “It was an instant match. We both
have these country roots with rock and roll souls.”, said Pyeatt. “From
the artistic angle, hooking up with Mike was like opening a door to new
creativity. Making new sounds is what it’s all about and I’m really
psyched about this new gig.” After the MMB’s early practice sessions
McClure said, “…I've been curious as to what the new "sound"
would be. So far we go from groovy love songs to full on blitzkrieg rock.
…it should be fun. May be wobbly at the first couple of shows but drink
a beer and we will try our best to look like we meant to do whatever it is
that we've done.”.
Pyeatt says he did a lot of soul searching before he joined McClure. “We’ve
put a lot of work into developing the Texas Beer Joint Tour. Coming out as
a solo artist last year was the culmination of a long process. Friends and
family, especially my wife Paula, made major commitments and sacrifices so
that I could do the TBJT.”. Pyeatt goes on to say that the Texas Beer
Joint Tour won’t die. He’ll continue to play gigs during any MMB down
time and hints that his power-house band may take on some TBJT gigs
without him “There’s a certain sound to the TBJT that combines
country, blues and rock and the whole band has that beer-flavored sound
embedded in their souls.” Amanda Brown, Luke Marino, Steve Palousek,
Jeromy Yager, Jeremy Bryant, JP Morrison, Ron Huckabee and Joey Hamende
have done the tour with Pyeatt, on an interchangeable basis, from the
beginning. To list their individual accomplishments would take more space
than we have here but suffice it to say, that even without Pyeatt’s
galactic guitar work, this would be a group to see.
The “new sound” of the Mike McClure Band will make its debut at
Fishbonz in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Friday, April 4, followed by the Red Dirt
Café in Norman, Oklahoma, on Saturday, April 5. On Thursday, April 10,
central Texans can catch this hot new group at the legendary Antones in
Austin. The complete schedule is available online at
or www.mikemccluremusic.com
.
The collaborative efforts of McClure and Pyeatt will be the hottest ticket
on the Texas/Oklahoma circuit. Advance booking has been heavy and everyone
that’s heard of this new union expects some powerful sounds to break
through the Texas/Red Dirt music barriers.

"If
you like kick ass guitar playing, in a tasteful way...get TBJT. I
heard Rodney play when he was the guest artist at SPC last year. He
had even the instructors looking in awe. Get this CD." fan

"I
always tell people who
miss a live show that it's
kind of like sex.
No amount of description will convey what it was like to just be
there."
Jeff Ermoian
"Rodney Pyeatt
should be wanted by every club around. He's armed and dangerously
talented."
Jill & Bubba Cox/Cotton Club
"
WHAT A SHOW!!!!!!!! Rodney and Amanda, and the guys playing with them, are
the hottest little devils this side of hell but their talent is
heavenly."
"We
drove 134 miles one way because we heard you were playing at the
Cotton Club. It was worth every mile! We can't wait for you to come to
Houston so that we can take all our friends to see what we've been talking
about. We had a great time."
Larry & Judy Parker
"I heard you play at Corbin's benefit on Thursday....man can you
sing! I know the popped string was a bummer, but you played like crazy
right through it. Come to College Station."

"Rodney
Pyeatt...a club owners dream."
Linda Lopez, Bo's Barn
"For the
first time in my life I am speechless, (Saturday night) at Fred &
Wallys in Waco, I can only think of two words to describe it,
(freak)ING AWESOME.
Joey Hammond is 1 bad dude.
Amanda & Rodney literally rocked not just the house, but the (WHOLE
DAMNED BLOCK) Waco will never be the same.
To those of you who missed it, you missed a helluva show.
See you in Salado!!!!!!"
